Staying on Track

March 28, 2012

It is usually in the middle of the semester that I find myself looking for more motivation to keep going. I always start strong, meaning at the beginning of the year, I am active, hyper, and excited about new classes and projects. But then by the second or third month, the amount of work starts piling up, and I have to constantly remind myself what my goals are to stay on track. Something that is keeping me going though is my trip to Armenia this summer. I keep thinking about that and that has been what is getting me to stay on track.

This semester as I have said before could possibly be my most hectic one. It is already 10 weeks the internship has been going on and about seven weeks that school started. I don’t want to complain too much, but let’s just say that I cannot wait until spring break.

So far, the internship has been very exciting, with new work and challenges to face every day. Having to wake up and come to work makes me feel useful for others, not just for myself.  School is for my benefit, but interning is for the benefit of others, which does not mean that I don’t gain anything out of it. I actually gain so much out of this internship. I feel much more connected to the Armenian part of me. I think I drive my parents insane talking about ANCA this or ANCA that. One of my favorite parts of being in the office is answering calls. It is always fun to talk to people who decide to call ANCA.

School is more of a challenge because I have to put so much more time into homework than anything else. Since this is my last semester at community college, I have a ‘lazy’ demeanor.  That should go away as soon as possible if I am planning on passing my classes with all A’s. I have recently started writing a research paper on Catherine the Great.  I am kind of excited about that.

I knew that this semester was going to be intense, but I did not realize I was going to love every minute of it.
