LOS ANGELES, CA – Governor Gray Davis announced the appointment of Zaven V. Sinanian to the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday June 5, 2002.

Mr. Sinanian, 42, of La Crescenta, has served as a Deputy Attorney General since 1989. During his career he has distinguished himself in representing the People of the State of California in the Correctional Law, Criminal Appeals and the Consumer Affairs Section. Since 1999 Sinanian has also served as the liaison of Attorney General Lockyer to the Armenian Community. Most recently Sinanian served on the Glendale Genocide Commemoration Commission and is the Chairman of the Armenian Bar Association. In 1992 Sinanian took a one-year sabbatical to assist Armenia in establishing its first true Foreign Ministry since the days of the 1st Republic. He had also authored a “friend of the Court Brief” on behalf of Attorney General Lockyer defending the Constitutionality of the Armenian Genocide Victims Act of 2000, which he prevailed on.

” I am proud to see that Governor Davis has appointed yet another fine Armenian American attorney to serve our community on the Superior Court. Zaven has always been a strong supporter and believer in Hai Tad from his AYF days through his longtime dedication to the Armenian Bar Association. He has always been there for this community. On behalf of the ANC we commend the Governor’s appointment of Zaven Sinanian.”

Judge Sinanian joins recent appointee Greg Keosian to the Superior Court Bench who was sworn in only a week before.
