Rally at Miami GOP Presidential Debate to Call Out Biden for Arming Azerbaijan’s Genocide of Armenian Christians

November 6, 2023

WHAT: On November 7th – the eve of the third GOP Presidential debate – Armenian Americans and a coalition of faith-based and human rights organizations will hold a press conference and rally calling on Republican presidential candidates to hold Joe Biden accountable for arming Azerbaijan’s genocide of 120,000 Christian Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

To date, the only Republican candidate to do so has been Vivek Ramaswamy. In interviews with Tucker Carlson and Piers Morgan, he has sharply criticized U.S. military aid to oil-rich Azerbaijan.

Protesters are demanding the following actions from the Biden Administration:

1) Enforce sanctions against Azerbaijan for committing genocide
2) Provide robust humanitarian assistance to Armenian refugees
3) Ensure Armenians can return safely to the Artsakh homeland

WHY: In September of this year, Azerbaijan – a country consistently rated as one of the world’s most corrupt dictatorships – committed genocide against democratic Artsakh, using blockades and bombings to drive 120,000 Armenians from a cradle of early Christianity that has been an integral part of the Armenian homeland since biblical times.

WHEN: Tuesday, November 7, 2023 | 6:00 to 8:00 PM

WHERE: Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts – 1300 Biscayne Blvd – Miami, FL 33132

WHO: The protest is organized by the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) Eastern US and the Armenian National Committee of America Eastern US (ANCA-ER), in coordination with Armenian American and ethnic community partners. The ANCA and AYF are part of the 120,000 Reasons Coalition, united in exerting pressure on the White House, Congress, and the 2024 Presidential candidates to break the silence on the second Armenian Genocide committed in Artsakh and to support the sovereignty and security of Armenia.

INTERVIEWS: The protest rally will feature remarks by clergy, the Armenian American community, and coalition leaders. Community and coalition leaders will also be available for in-person and remote interviews before and during the event. Media interested in connecting should email rally@anca.org.
