ANCA EASTERN REGION WELCOMES NAIRI ESAYAN TO THE NEW YORK OFFICE

October 1, 2008

New York, NY- The Armenian National Committee of America, Eastern Region (ANCA-ER) welcomes a new addition to its team, Nairi Esayan, a current college student who will be interning with the organization this fall.

“We are honored to welcome a talented and capable activist such as Nairi. She has already proven to be a team leader, taking on an active role during the ANCA ER second annual banquet, in addition to her commitment to the Armenian cause,” commented ANCA ER Director Karine Birazian.

Esayan is currently studying at The City University of New York
Baruch College, majoring in Political Science with a double minor in Sociology and English. She attended local Saturday Armenian Schools, Holy Martyrs and St. Vartan’s Khrimian Lyceum. She was formerly president of the New York Hyortik Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) Junior Chapter. She was also involved with the Shushi Armenian Dance Ensemble.

“It’s important for me to be involved in the Armenian Community, not only socially but politically as well. The younger generation needs to take action or no one will. In school, I always make a point of writing essays on the Armenian Genocide to make my teachers and peers aware of our history.”

During her internship, Esayan will work on various projects including following up with Congressional races and encouraging those running for office to submit the ANCA 2008 Congressional Questionnaire. Esayan will volunteer with other ethnic and human rights organizations in New York City and have an opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to spend a day in the ANCA office and meet with members on Capitol Hill.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots political organization. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters and supporters throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the world, the ANCA actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
